The First Tee of Metropolitan New York

The First Tee is the first initiative of the World Golf Foundation to create new facilities and access to golf with a special emphasis on kids who otherwise may not have an opportunity to experience the game. The true value of this program is based on golf's unique ability to instill and nurture essential values, such as honesty, integrity, sportsmanship and a solid work ethic in young people who are introduced to the game.

The First Tee of Metropolitan New York, Inc. is a joint venture between the MGA Foundation, Metropolitan Section PGA and an investor group lead by the late Lewis Rudin of Rudin Management of New York City. The First Tee of Metropolitan New York at Mosholu Golf Course & Driving Range is the first of hopefully many junior training facilities schedule for the metropolitan area. Since 2001, The First Tee of Metropolitan New York has offered over 5,000 youngsters in the New York metropolitan area their first exposure to the game of golf and its positive values.

The future looks bright for expansion of The First Tee. The opening of The First Tee of Nassau County (Long Island) scheduled for spring 2005 will start this process, other sites under consideration include The First Fairfield County (Bridgeport, CT) and Weequahic Park, Essex County (NJ). The addition of these facilities will allow us to serve junior golfers throughout the metropolitan New York area.

The First Tee Junior Initiative has the following objectives:

Improve the game's accessibility, making golf more available to people of all social   strata, particularly children.
Provide every child, regardless of race and economic background, the opportunity to   learn and play golf.
Teach children that dedication, sound values and education are keys to success.
Develop in participants greater self-esteem, civic responsibility and confidence to   broaden their goals in life.
Create employment and advanced educational opportunities for participants.

Practice Facilities
The typical facility makeup consists of a driving range, practice green, practice bunker, chipping green, two-hole short course and clubhouse/classroom. These facilities will be essential to provide the best learning experience. The First Tee has other models if land or space is limited.

Community
The First Tee of Metropolitan New York, Inc. understands that, as a neighbor in the community, we must develop strong relationships and utilize the products and services available in those communities. It is our desire to work with local organizations and community groups to strengthen our position in the community. We will also build employment opportunities with the community in mind.

The First Tee of New York, Inc. will now focus on development of more facilities and affiliate relationships throughout our region. The goal is to be able to say that The First Tee is available in all communities.
